Activity Objectives

• Reshape the topography to divert all the water from the construction site to the stormwater drain located downhill.
• Minimize the impact

Activity Instructions

Students will be tasked with reshaping the topography with the overall goal of diverting all the simulated water from the “construction site” to the “stormwater drain” located downhill. They may use their hands or a sculpting knife to make cuts, dams, depressions, etc. in the landscape. Students can achieve: (1) the best solution if all the waterflow is diverted to the stormwater drain while making minimal change to the topography; (2) a good solution if all the waterflow is diverted to the stormwater drain, but having made consideradle changes to the topography; and a (3) bad solution if no water drains to the stormwater drain.
